Historical background
From customs station to today's villa.
The villa's roots go back to 1935, when it was built to serve as a customs station. Located on the seashore, the building had a central role in supervision and trade.
Later, the building was taken over by the Border Guard, serving as the border guards' office and home to two families.
Today, Villa Merilinna is part of the Toranda and Lapland Lagoon area, offering a peaceful retreat right next to the city.
